Union Street: There are great walking, jogging, and riding paths along this picturesque,
delightful street. As you are strolling along, you can admire
the historic old homes, and get a bite to eat at the eclectic
restaurants and coffee shops.
Spring Street: One street over from Union Street is Spring Street.
Particularly interesting is the Memorial Gardens with its
beautiful flowers. A sight to see, indeed!

RESTAURANTS: There are a wide variety of restaurants for your dining pleasure. There are
grocery stores as
well, for the extras or for a late night snack.

SHOPPING: Right around the corner, on US Hwy 29 N, is the Carolina Mall with stores
galore, food,
and an 8-theater cinema. If you are looking for an even bigger selection of
movies, Starlite
Cinemas has 14 theaters, and The Gem Theater, a huge, old-time theater with
a balcony
and vintage decorating, is close-and the price is always $2.00! If you are
looking for a real
bargain, we have countless outlet shopping malls a short drive away. One
that is especially
nice is Cannon Village in Kannapolis, the town next door. Concord Mills-the
largest outlet mall in the southeast-is also located about 12 minutes south of
the academy.

PARKS: We have an awesome park nearby called Frank Liske Park. There are a
multitude of
activities, some of which are: picnic areas, paddle boats, and volleyball
courts,
softball fields, and miniature golf. There is a nature trail for hiking and
cycling,
and you can bring your pet, but keep him/her on a leash. No alcoholic
beverages allowed.

AIRPORTS: Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) is about 30 minutes southwest of the
academy.
Piedmont Triad International (GSO) is approximately one hour northeast of
the academy.
Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) is approximately two hours northeast
of the
Academy.
